Ferdinand's Saar Quince Gin (750ml) Ferdinand's is possibly the first gin to list wine as an ingredient, being made from hand-picked Riesling grapes from the steep shale slopes of the Zilliken estate on the grand Saarburger Rausch site. Master Distiller, Andreas Vallendar also employs over thirty finely balanced botanicals taken from the vineyards as well as their own cultivated plants. Tasting note: Made by macerating home grown aromatic quinces in a gin base. The resulting bright gold coloured liquid is redolent of ripe quince, without being overly sweet. Silky in the mouth with a luxurious feel, hints of lemon add freshness while the finish offers super pure quince and lemon flavours. Barely a hint of juniper, so not very 'ginny' - but think of it as a regional homage to sloe gin. 30% Alc./Vol.
